The TextSide Engine provides a lightweight control panel to manage some of the Engine's built in features.
With the control panel you can:
Manage Pages and Templates
Change Site Themes
Manage Site Parts and Modules
Manage Page Security, User Accounts, User Groups, and Permissions
Customize the Control Panel to provide new features
The control panel can also be easily modified to add new features and management pages. This is especially helpful when creating custom sites using the engine - as it allows you to have one standard control panel for everything.
To access the control panel you can either enter its url directly:
http://www.yoursite.com/admin
or you can click on the "Control Panel" link in the upper right hand corner of your site when you are logged in.
From the pages tab you can view and browse all the pages that have been created. You can create new folders, pages, as well as 'templates' to use. Templates are a type of page that other pages can inherit content from. For example, a template contained a part that had site-wide navigation. Any page that uses that template would automatically contain the navigation part from the template. If you modify content on a template, the changes would automatically be shared to all pages using that template.
Themes provide a way of customizing the look and feel of your site. Each theme can drastically change the look and layouts available. From the theme tabs you can view all the themes that have been uploaded and easily switch between them.
From the parts tab you can view all the parts or modules that have been installed on the system. You can view previews of the parts, cause them to be reinstalled, or view any errors that were encountered while the system attempted to install parts.
From the security tab you can control access to your site and the actions that your users can perform. In this system users belong to user groups. For example, there might be a group for Visitors, Users, Moderators, and Administrators. Each group has a different set of permissions, or actions, that they can perform. You can manage all of these settings from the Security Tab.
In addition to the built in administration features, it is also possible to add new pages and content to the control panel. This makes it easy to build a custom site with new features. For example, here a site has been created with its own mailing list.
